A BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION + AN ORANGE BIKE

7:35 AM

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, JOHN! FIRST BIRTHDAY AS A MARRIED COUPLE, SO EXCITED TO CELEBRATE MY FAVE PERSON IN THE WORLD - YOU!!! LOVE YOU!

One of my fave stories that John tells takes place on his 5th birthday. John is the youngest of 3 kids, and was no stranger to hand-me-downs. When his parents (and my awesome in-laws!) generously sprang for a brand new bike for him, they thought there was no way it could go awry - it was shiny, new, and what every kid would want. When his parents brought him outside to let him know this cool new bike was his, he burst into tears which was followed by a tantrum. He didn't want a new bike - he wanted his older brothers scraggly bike with the cool Spiderman designs all over it. So to remedy the situation, his big brother took one for the team and traded up while John got the hand-me-down he so desired. Haha, isn't that cute???

When I saw this beautiful bike, I thought about how rad it would be to upgrade John to this. And then steal if for myself....mwahahaha! A grown-up version of a kiddy classic. Not that  either of us needs a $750 bike, but still...a fun thing to put on the "Things I want to by John but never will due to common sense" list. Ninetendo DS games, sweaters, and vintage comics? So not on that list. ;)

  1. Aww, cute story! I'm sure his brother didn't mind one bit. :) And as an orange & white fanatic, I LOVE that bike! Not the price tag so much... but, that's usually my luck anyway. :)
